New Location for Farmers Market

The Downtown Coos Bay Farmer’s Market is set to open for the 2010 season on Wednesday May 5th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Sunday Market will open on Sunday May 23rd, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Our location has changed for this year. The new location will be in the Pedestrian Walkway or “Pedway”, 1/2 block south of the Historic Egyptian Theater in Coos Bay on Highway 101 South between Curtis Ave and South 2nd st. This is a beautiful new location with picnic tables and plum trees and I am excited to fill the walkway and adjacent parking lots with superlative choices of local foods and an artisanal marketplace. The Market is accepting NEW produce, honey, cheese, eggs, meat, live animal, music, pottery, leather, textile, grains, dried beans, stained glass or chocolate vendors . I am very grateful for the exposure and to let people know that we are here with some amazing art on the walls. As the saying goes…ask and you shall receive. And did we ever receive! A huge THANK YOU to the artists who have hung their work at our office; I am overwhelmed at the beauty and emotion the pieces have brought to my life. I invite people to stop by and see what is here and if you want to buy something I will hook you up directly with the artist - I am doing this for aesthetics not money.

The artist currently hanging are Jerry Baron, Stephanie Donaldson, Nan Forsberg-Hammons, Clayton Redwood and a great photo of the New Carrissa by Gene LaRochelle. There is space for more!

In Search of Local Art

Now that Oregon Bay Properties L.L.C. has moved into our beautiful offices in the newly refurbished Hotel North Bend, we need some help to grace the nearly 18’ high gallery quality walls. Right now the walls are white with brown trim and beg for art, or maybe fabric sculpture, or both, to dampen the acoustic bounce and enliven the stark color. To that end, we would like to invite Oregon artists by offering free hanging space in our prominent location, especially well suited for oversized pieces. It would be our objective to install new art before the Memorial Day weekend each year. The criteria for selection will be tasteful wall art suitable for an upbeat business environment, and compatibility with both the current décor as well as a unified feel with the other pieces selected.
